Watkins in My Life

Watkinize Your HomeYes, I’m an Independent Watkins Associate.  My customers refer to me as the “Watkins Man,” or their “Watkins Man.”  Others refer to me as a “Watkins Dealer.”  But long before I began building a home-based Watkins business I used Watkins.  In fact, I’ve used Watkins products since I was a toddler — over 55 years ago.  That’s because I grew up in a “Watkins home.”

Several of my favorite Watkins products throughout the years remain some of the most popular Watkins products sold nationally.  Namely, Watkins Red Liniment, Watkins White Liniment, Watkins Double-Strength Vanilla, Watkins Cinnamon, Watkins Black Pepper and Petro-Carbo Salve.   These are all products used by my grandparents, my parents and by me for most of our lives. 

However, now that I’m a Watkins Associate and have had the opportunity to use numerous Watkins products, I’m now a big fan and avid user of many other Watkins products.  A short recap of what I’ve done today will reveal just how extensively I’ve “Watkinized” my home.   When I woke up this morning I started the day brushing my teeth with Watkins toothpaste, shampooing my hair with Watkins Aloe and Tea Shampoo, using Watkins Aloe and Tea conditioner on my hair, completed showering, dressing, and enjoying a breakfast that consisting of Watkins White Chocolate Almond flavored Hot Cocoa, French Toast with Watkins Pure Cinnamon sprinkled on the toast and putting Watkins Vanilla Flavored Lip Balm on my lips to protect my lips on this cool and windy day.

As I walked out the door I noticed my wife was beginning to wash dishes using Watkins Liquid Dishwashing detergent and had already started washing a load of clothes using Watkins laundry detergent.  When seated in my SUV and letting the engine warm up I marveled over how crystal clean and clear my windows looked.  My daughter had cleaned them on Sunday using Watkins Window Cleaner.

The cold front that moved into our area yesterday prompted my wife to make a large pot of homemade chicken and vegetable soup for dinner yesterday.  She had prepared a bowl for me to take to work today.  The soup was fantastic and really hit the spot at lunch time.  She used Watkins chicken soup stock for the base, and seasoned it with Watkins black pepper and Watkins sea salt. 

I’ve never been able to put into words just how fresh, pure and wonderful Watkins black pepper taste when compared to other brands of black pepper.  I know, you’re likely thinking “Once you’ve tasted one black pepper you’ve tasted them all.”  I used to think the same, but that’s simply not true.  Most brands of black pepper and cinnamon have a large percentage of inert and inexpensive fillers.  Watkins black pepper and cinnamon are 100% pure with no fillers.  Thus, their taste is fresh, pure and powerful. Upon returning home at the end of the day my daugther asked if I’d like to have a foot massage with Watkins Peppermint Foot Massage Lotion.  One massage with this product and your feet will feel like their in foot heaven.  My wife had barbequed chicken on the grill using Watkins Barbeque Sauce and my daughter mentioned she had tried Watkins Lemon Cream Shea Butter lotion and loved it.  She said she went through the day smelling her hands occassionally because she loved the “Lemon Cream Pie” smell and freshness so much.  My wife had cleaned house using a number of Watkins green cleaning products, including Watkins toilet bowl cleaner.

I’m certain that if I had asked more questions I would have found that my family members had used even more Watkins products throughout the day.  As this account documents, we are a Watkins family from head to toe, room to room throughout our house.  And with the healthy discount I get on all Watkins products I buy as a Watkins associate, I’m saving a lot of money every month by Watkinizing my home.

It’s Not Your MaMa’s Watkins Anymore!

The Watkins ManI grew up on a small Louisiana farm in the 1950′s and early 1960′s.  One of life’s special treats in those days was the monthly visit by the “Watkin’s man.”  He would drive up to our farm house in a black paneled truck with the Watkins name in gold script letters on each side.  He was always dressed in a black suit, white shirt, a colored tie and a black hat.  I no longer can recall his name and not sure if I ever knew it.  For everyone in the family simply called him the “Watkins man,” except for when he was visiting us.

The “Watkins man” captivated us each month.  Like a magician pulling a rabbit out of his hat, the Watkins man would open his large black leather display case, that also had the word Watkins in gold letters on each site, and begin demonstrating new products and old, concentrating like every good salesman on ones we had’nt tried before. 

Our kitchen pantry and medicine cabinets were chocked full of Watkins products.  My Granny Brown used double strength vanilla, walnut and banana extracts, cinnamon, black pepper and many more products for the kitchen.  Like every good mother, she had passed down the tradition of using Watkins to my mother. 

My Papa Brown was practically a Watkins groupie.  The man treated Petro Carbo salve with a special reverence like none I’ve ever seen.  You would have thought it had been discovered by Ponce de Leon himself.  He treated everything you can possibly imagine with Petro Carbo salve, from minor cuts, scrapes and burns to open wounds that should have been stitched — on both people and dogs. 

I can recall countless times when our hog dog “Sport” would get cut badly by a wild boar or injured badly in a dog fight and Papa Brown would holler, “Craig, run get me the can of Petro Carbo.”  And a miracle ointment it was indeed, for any and everyone we treated always healed quickly with Petro Carbo.  It still holds a special place in the medicine cabinets of my house and my parents.

Ah, but do those days of old bring back fond memories.  And here I am today, a proud “Watkins man” myself.  But things have changed a lot at Watkins over the last 40 years.  As I frequently tell others interested in this fantastic home-based business opportunity, “It’s not your Mama’s Watkins anymore!”  No, instead its much better.

Today’s Watkins is no longer a door-to-door sales business.  Oh sure, it can be, but there are far more, far better and far easier ways to market Watkins.  From Good Tastings parties, to festival and trade show sales, to online e-commerce sales and catalog distribution, selling Watkins is a fun and easy way to make money. 

Most importantly for Watkins associates, one can now make a full-time income working Watkins part-time because the owners of Watkins have given associates a fantastic associate compensation model that now allows associates to build an unlimited residual income stream.  In the old days, Watkins “dealers” had to work Waktins full time to make a full time income.  With today’s associate compensation model and the leverage of network marketing, it is possible to build a full-time income in 3 to 5 years working your Watkins business part-time, usually 8 to 10 hours per week.

Selecting the Right Sponsor for Your Watkins Business

Are you considering becoming a Watkins associate, starting your Watkins home-based business?  If so, your first order of business after opting to join Watkins is to make a good choice on who you will select as your sponsor in Watkins.  After all, the person you choose will be your sponsor for as long as the two of you remain Watkins associates.

You might not have thought about it before, but selecting the right sponsor can make a world of difference in how quick you can build a Watkins business and how successful your Watkins home-based business will become.  Before joining Watkins, I highly recommend you ask yourself a few questions about your potential sponsor.  My list follows below:

  1. Who will be your sponsor if you join Watkins?
  2. Will you receive good training from your sponsor?
  3. Is your sponsor someone you will enjoy working with in the future?
  4. Will your sponsor stay in regular contact with you and provide pointers and advice when needed?
  5. Does your sponsor have something to bring to the table that will improve your chances of success with Watkins?
  6. Is your sponsor knowledgable and well-versed on Watkins products and business practices?
  7. Does your potential sponsor appear to be dependable?
  8. Does your sponsor have a well-rounded business background that allows him or her to train you in many aspects of running a successful business?
